Senior Reentry Support Specialist

This position under the supervision of the Director provides supervision for Re-Entry Specialist/Coordinator in preparing pre-release (inside state prisons) and post-release (in the community) case management services. Travel to the State Prisons, County Jails, Probation & Parole offices and other criminal justice service providers between Newark and Paterson to promote and recruit inmates who are eligible for the program. Monitoring all aspects of client services, ensuring the needs of clients are met.

Required Knowledge, Abilities and Experience

Job Requirements:

  • Provide leadership through the supervision of staff in terms of direction, input, feedback, and role modeling.
  • Conduct performance reviews and taking disciplinary action.
  • Conduct program staff meetings in absence of (Director)
  • Assist with Re-entry Specialist/Coordinator duties when needed.
  • Participate in mandatory training and staff development sessions.
  • Prepare appropriate reports.
  • Conduct program audits.
  • Training all new Re-entry Specialist/Coordinator staff members
  • Perform all other work-related duties as assigned by the Director.
  • Perform all other work-related duties as assigned by the Program Director

Ability to:

  • Learn, Analyze and interpret understand and follow contract rules, regulations, policies, and procedures; strong communication skills and the ability to present material in a clear and effective manner to a diverse population.
  • Travel as needed, and flexible schedule.
  • Work independently with minimal supervision.

Academic and Work Experience:

Four-year degree in a social, human services, criminal justice or behavioral science program from an accredited college or university. At a minimum, one year of experience must be working in human services, corrections, or community-based services. Work experience may be substituted for academic studies by exchanging one year of work experience in a related field for one year of academic education. Total work experience needed in lieu of the combination of education and work experience is five years. Valid NJ Driver’s license. Supervisory experience a plus.
